MOTIVE OF SURVEY:-

The need of survey was realized by the fact that surveys that were done till date on recruitment generally concentrated on the big or metro cities in India . But there were no relevance with how the industry’s recruitment is conducted at ground level or at the city like Udaipur.

Shaleen Jobs and HR Foundation realized the need of it and started taking steps towards it.

The surveyed about 100 industry in and around Udaipur and gathered the information about how the recruitments are done in these industries. They choose from the various recruitment tools offered in the survey form and told us their preferences.

We then analyzed the information and came to various conclusion.

We observed that the companies all around India are giving preferences to recruitment agencies and job portals for filling their vacancies, but industries in Udaipur are still limited to the old methods of hiring such as direct approach, newspaper advertisement etc.

We also observed the big companies are using the latest tools such as placement agencies, hr database, job portals etc as a day to day activity for hiring personnel in their companies and are getting the maximum success rate in recruitment and retention, but on the other hand the new emerging business and middle scale companies still rely on the traditional methods of hiring candidates.

These traditional methods are giving them success in hiring employees but the retention rate is quite low in these companies.http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/satisfy.jpg

DATA COLLECTION:-

We have surveyed about 100 companies in and around Udaipur, ranging from big, middle to small scale industries. All the data collected are from genuine sources and no misleading data have been entertained during the whole process.

TOOLS OF HIRING USED BY COMPANIES CURRENTLY ARE :-

  1. Direct approach
  2. Employee reference
  3. Hr database
  4. Newspaper advertisement
  5. Placement agencies
  6. Campus selection
  7. Job portals
  8. Others

 I.  OVERALL PREFERENCE OF COMPANIES ON TOOLS FOR HIRING

As per the survey, the companies’ preferences on the choice of hiring tools can be judged by the following pie-chart:-

http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/tools.jpg

From the chat above it can be clearly observed:-

  • Most companies today prefer “direct approach” and “employees’ reference” to candidates for filling the vacancy in their firm.
  •  While taking the survey the HR professional came out with the fact about choosing “direct approach” and “employee’s reference” on their priority list is because of direct interaction with the candidates. Although they face bit of schedule problems and hectic but they consider it more trust worthy and reliable.
  •  Earlier it was assumed that “newspaper advertisement “ and “job portals” must be most used hiring tools but it was denied with the fact that only 19% and 5% preference were given to them by the firms respectively.

II.   PREFERNCE OF BIG/ LARGE SCALE COMPANIES ON TOOLS OF HIRING

As per the survey, the large scale companies’ preferences on the choice of hiring tools can be judged by the following pie-chart:-

http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/big-companies.jpg

From the chat above it can be clearly observed:-

  • Big companies keep an eye that all the tools are being used wisely. They don’t concentrate on one or two tools but they use all the tools equally.
  • Here we can see that although the companies do prefer the traditional methods but they also take the modern tools such as placement agencies, hr database, job portals in majority while hiring for their companies.
  • This type of appropriate tools usage not only make them successful in recruitment and selection process but also make them the best in employee retention.

III.     PREFERNCE OF MIDDLE SCALE COMPANIES ON TOOLS OF HIRING

As per the survey, the middle scale companies preferences on the choice of hiring tools can be judged by the following pie-chart:-

http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/middle-companies.jpg

From the chat above it can be clearly observed:-

  • It gives a clear idea that just after large scale industries, the middle level industries are getting the preference on modern techniques little low then the big companies.
  • Although they are using the modern techniques a little but not on the mark or as much as the big companies are using.
  • They need to emphasis more on every necessary tool to make their recruitment process more effective .

IV.  PREFERNCE OF SMALL  SCALE COMPANIES ON TOOLS OF HIRING

As per the survey, the small scale companies preferences on the choice of hiring tools can be judged by the following pie-chart :-

http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/small-companies.jpg

From the chat above it can be clearly observed:-

  • The small firms still rely on traditional ways of recruitment.
  • Due to economic issues they only prefer tools like direct approach and employee reference.
  • But these cost effective tools cost them higher on long run because these traditional tools have lower retention rate.

V. SATISFACTION WITH THE QUALITY OF APPLICANTS FROM TOOLS USED BY ALL COMPANIES

http://shaleenjobs.com/www/client/images/form-tools.jpg

From the chat above it can be clearly observed:-

  • Companies are not very satisfied with the tools they are using for recruitment.
  • Although the satisfaction level is ranging from satisfied to average but no company has gone to “very satisfied” level.

CONCLUSION:-
  • All the companies are using traditional tools for hiring of employees.

The modern tools are less used and less preferred tools.

Placement agencies being the most preferred tools in metro cities are not even considered to be a part of recruitment process in a growing city like Udaipur .

The use of traditional methods are making companies go to low retention rates.

The big companies using modern tools are having more retention rates till now.

SUGGESTIONS :-
  • The companies should not rely just on the traditional tools for recruitment and selection process.

The uses of modern tools like placement agencies, hr database, job portals etc should also be accessed for getting the best and reliable employees into the firm.

These modern tools can be more costly than traditional but they prove to be more economic in long run.

While conducting the process of recruitment and selection the organizations should also keep in mind the retention rates of their organization pre and post selection of employees.

The organization should take the points into mind that why the big companies are getting more success in their recruitment processes and getting higher retention rates.
